What LOGCAP is

LOGCAP (the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program) is the U.S. Army's standing contract vehicle for large-scale contractor logistics support — dining facility (DFAC) operations, base life support, maintenance, transportation, and construction — during contingency and steady-state operations overseas. It's staffed through a small set of large prime contractors and their subcontracted workforce providers, not through general staffing agencies.

Who staffs LOGCAP roles

Prerequisites for LOGCAP roles

  • Medical and vaccination screening. LOGCAP subcontractors typically require a full medical fitness screening plus destination-specific vaccinations before mobilization — this is often the longest lead-time item.
  • Security and background screening. Requirements are generally lighter than DoD IT or intelligence roles — often background-check level rather than a formal clearance — but vary by labor category and base access requirement.
  • Passport and travel documentation. A valid U.S. passport is required for U.S.-hire positions; third-country-national hiring (common on LOGCAP) follows separate country-specific documentation.
  • Trade or technical certification. DFAC, maintenance, and skilled-trade roles often require a trade certification or demonstrated experience in the specific function (food service, HVAC, generator maintenance, heavy equipment).
